Hi! I’m Cheryl.  Welcome to the Wright Side of the Road.  I was born and raised in Southeast Texas.  I am married to my husband, Paul, and we have 5 children ages 26-44.  All are grown and out of the house living their life and chasing their dreams.  We are grandparents from our oldest son who has 5 children ages 10-18.  My husband has driven a school bus for several area school districts for over twenty years, retired in January 2025, and has now gone back this school year in 2026.  I have owned my own childcare center since 2004, opened a second location, and still work 10-12-hour days.  I love my business, and it has been great being my own boss, but as I am sure anyone that has owned their own business can tell you it is a LOT of work.

About four years ago, we bought our dream home in the country on about 25 acres of land thinking that we wanted to live the homesteading type of life.  After jumping off above our heads with all of it…cows, chickens, pigs, garden, canning etc. we have found that we are still running the rat race too much to focus on it all.  We are working together to build our skills as we learn along the way, but have downsized the animals to the chickens and are trying to improve our gardening skills.  I love the sunsets and never get tired of them.  They are so beautiful, and every day seems to look different.  You will probably see lots of pics of them.  Since moving to the farm Paul’s mom, sister, and niece have all moved in with us for various reasons so life is definitely a challenge!

So come and join me as we travel down this crazy road that we call life.  I am sure there are many who are more experienced at this than us.  But hopefully we can encourage someone else, and find some humor along the way.
